I think a lot of people would return to farming if they could have their own small organic farms. Remember, there is that farm in Montana or wherever that Coug posted a link to that teaches people to farm. I think a lot of Americans would like to return to the peace and quiet of the countryside instead of working in Wal-Marts everywhere for almost minimum wage and lousy benefits. I think all the farmers forced off their farms by taking on too much debt because they were suckered by the banks and agrichemical companies in the last several decades is a national tragedy. I think it destroyed part of our collective soul. There are a lot of families still living on farms, with one person or two also working at other jobs. I think these people particularly would love to be able to support themselves at farming.
