I am in favor of the using draft to resolve this dilemma.

I agree with the preference for an all-volunteer military, but I think that it works primarily when there is a pervasive sense of duty and honor towards one's country. Given the current way our information systems (educators and the MSM) choose to frame values that shape the youth of our nation, I think a more workable solution would be to require that everyone sign up for mandatory service by one's twenty-first birthday, with a choice of either military or non-military (such as serving in the Peace Corp), with the specified length of service and the various bonuses designed so as to help influence the resultant choice. Just a thought.

Edit: In case the thought above wasn't clear, I do believe that a mandatory service to one's country should be uniformly applied going forward as part of ordinary citizenship, and not identified as a temporary, renewable or revocable draft.
