| Do you not think the hypocrisy of wealth and possessions, in terms of Christians, comes from trying to justify your wealth before God, rather than just accepting that while Jesus would not have invested in the market, or wanted his followers to concentrate on wealth, he would have had compassion and understanding for people who did want wealth, if those people realized it wasn't totally compatible with the religion, but just couldn't break free? Not all of us can follow the purity of Buddha, or Jesus, but we can know we are not following, and yet yearn for something better. I think the problem comes when you believe that not following is actually following, or you try to make not following a part of the religion, and change the word in such a way that it no longer is the Word- that may be hypocrisy. |
