We should go back only as far as about 50 years. What is practical is the two state solution and Israel withdrawing from the West Bank and Gaza to make that happen.

Very true but this will never happen: 90% of the water in this region is in the WB region.

MM, the very fact is and most likely remains, that Israel may well pull back from Gaza but will never seriously consider doing so from the West Bank. The reasons for that are multiple:

1. Look at the 1000+ years of Israel history
2. Water problems need to be solved first

But not necessarily in that order...
