That's exactly the problem with corporate media. It's lazy and rather stupid.

Media used to have their own foreign bureaus but now it's just an AP feed. Even major broadcast TV will play the exact same video (say from lovely balmy Baghdad) as their competitors because that's all they have available.

It's all in the name of corporate cost cutting. The bottom line mentality that has fluffy anchors (I heard that CBS was and perhaps is considering former model Laura Logan to replace Dan Rather - OMG) up front and the same purchased fees for 'content.'

IMO, as long as the net stays up and running (i.e. broadband cable co's don't cut off access) we're looking at a future of 'amateur' or semi-pro journalists being our 'bureaus.' I'd rather have people who are actually there reporting on what's happening in their neck of the woods.

It's a much better alternative to the professional media which is, amazingly, angry AT US ITS CUSTOMER for demanding that they actually cover the DSM. What astonishing hubris and arrogance from the manufacturers of often shoddy product.
