Lotus Selects Verity's KeyView(TM) to Provide Document Viewing in SmartSuite 97

KeyView for Lotus SmartSuite to Be Available for Free Download From Lotus and Verity
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Sept. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Verity, Inc. (NASDAQ:VRTY), a leading provider of viewing, search and retrieval applications for the enterprise and the Internet, today announced that Lotus Development Corp. will license Verity's KeyView technology to enable users to access documents created in its award-winning SmartSuite 97 desktop productivity applications. The KeyView for Lotus SmartSuite 97 viewer will enable users to view all the popular Lotus SmartSuite file types, plus additional image and word-processing formats directly from within Windows File Manager/Explorer, as a plug-in to Netscape Navigator and MS Internet Explorer, and as a standalone application. Both Verity and Lotus plan to offer a free downloadable version of the KeyView for Lotus SmartSuite 97 technology directly from their web sites by late September of this year.
The Verity KeyView for Lotus SmartSuite 97 viewer is designed to allow users to easily view any SmartSuite file found on the Internet, their local network or Intranet, or hard drive. This special version of KeyView will provide SmartSuite users with high fidelity views of Freelance, Word Pro, Lotus 1-2-3, Ami Pro, as well as other popular formats such as MS Works, TIFF, BMP and Windows Metafile. Users will be able to view files by double-clicking on the selected file or by launching KeyView and opening the desired file. Within Netscape Navigator and MS Internet Explorer, KeyView will be launched automatically when you click on a supported file type.

As part of its agreement with Lotus, Verity will provide an upgrade path to KeyView Pro at a special price for Lotus SmartSuite 97 users. KeyView Pro is an award-winning utility that allows Windows users to view, convert, compress and secure more than 200 types of files -- whether encountered on the Internet, corporate Intranets, received as e-mail attachments or found on a hard drive or network. KeyView Pro can be used as a stand-alone application, integrated with e-mail or groupware applications, or act as a plug-in to Web browsers.
Pricing and Availability
KeyView for Lotus will be available free of charge to SmartSuite 97 users by late September 1997 from both Lotus and Verity. In addition, Verity will be offering an upgrade to KeyView Pro at a single user U.S. list price of $29 and 30% off packs and site licenses. KeyView Pro is available on CD-ROM for Windows 95, Windows NT, Windows for Workgroups 3.11 and Windows 3.1. KeyView Pro is widely available through channel partners such as Ingram Micro and Software Spectrum, and is a top seller on Software.net.
