I'm assuming you have a point to your questions? If so, would you mind taking the short route to get to the point?

In the U.S., there are many ways to conserve energy that ultimately result in reduced oil consumption. However, the single biggest consumer of oil in this country are automobiles. So if we want to focus our efforts on the biggest bang for the buck, it is conserving energy on our vehicles. That is what I'm doing.

Our gov't should be doing a hell of a lot more. Mandate a 50% reduction in oil consumption within 15 years. Mandate a 100% increase in fuel efficiency on all new vehicles within 15 years. Loosen regulations around nuclear power plant construction, so that we can move to clean burning energy. Provide larger tax credits to auto consumers. Guarantee Toyota that there will be no American backlash on them if GM goes bankrupt, given the fact that GM has pursued an irresponsible market strategy of large gas guzzling vehicles, while Toyota has built small, efficient, hybrids, and as a result GM is doing poorly and Toyota is doing well.

Oh yes, Bush and Congress are doing America a disservice with their short-sightedness.

A war on terror without energy conservation and a movement to reduce our oil dependency is a war without legs. How long do we want to go on funding our enemies to fight our own soldiers?
