There came a point in time where interning all persons of Japanese ancestry after Pearl Harbor no longer made sense. And there will come a point in time where interning all Al Qaeda sympathizers in Gitmo no longer makes sense.

We may not be there yet.

But at some point in time, invoking the image of people jumping from the World Trade Center will no longer be sufficient justification.

I do think we've reached that particular point, and it's time to look at what we're doing using the tools of analysis rather than emotion.

(I do think the people who jumped from those towers would rather not have been all purpose metaphors for the fight against Al Qaeda. JMHO)
