Drilling more oil wells will always be a short term solution. Getting off of oil is the long term solution. Whether they hate us or not, I'd just assume not put our country in a position of bankrolling dictatorial regimes who support terrorism. Today, oil gives the Arab regimes long life. If we lead the way to independence from oil, I guarantee you that every other country to do their damndest to follow. That will eventually leave the Arab countries to wallow in their own misery without oil money. Then they will have to make the hard choices to rebel against their leadership that hogs their scarce resources and leaves the people without jobs or fulfilling lives.
