P.S. I know its off topic but why do the drugs make bipolar or schiz. patients feel they have lost their personalities?

There is a major (100,000) cohort study underway now tracking pregnant women through childbirth and the first 72 months of their baby's lives; hopefully more funding will allow it to go through teenage years. They're going to try to understand more about the triggers and genetic vulnerabilities associated with autism and schizophrenia. We already know that flu outbreaks (mother getting flu) are associated. But lots of viruses like that are linked. Their thinking is that the mother's cytokine response may permanently sensitize the developing brain, and then later triggers resensitize it and push it into mental illness. This could be a good line of research with eventual new options for treatment but a long way off.
