Oral is completely entitled to his opinions, of course. I would like to see if I can influence him in some way to soften some of them, of course, and I would like the same respect shown for my right to have opinions, which I think I often don't get here. I get ridiculed quite a bit, actually, and that is tiresome when people aren't even willing to be intellectually open and expose themselves to views they do not already hold. Oral continues to say that I am some sort of leftist nut, and that factory farming is great and it is his right to treat farm animals any which way because of dominion, basically. But when I post an article by a conservative Christian author from the Bush administration who argues against factory farming, I cannot even get anyone to read it. That is very frustrating, because I read everything others post here.

But in response to your post, I was discussing specifically a comment Oral made:

"coug I've never disputed animals have a relationship with humans. I can promise you I've had closer relationships with many different kinds of animals most of which the experts on this thread have never seen."

I was surprised, because in the posts I can recall where Oral is talking about dairy cows, his tone is just very cold and clinical and he does not seem to be thinking of them in the way that someone who has had relationships with them would have, or in fact seem to be talking about live, feeling beings. That was really my entire observation, and it related back to the way Coug was talking about the dying young cow.
