Methadone is a good drug for chronic pain relief. It's a very long lasting synthetic opiate. Actually developed by the Germans in WWII as a substitute for morphine. Much longer lasting than oxycodone, percoset, and most other opiates. Also much less euphoria.

A former client of mine with severe chronic nerve pain caused as a residual side effect of cancer chemotherapy is on methadone. It's far superior for chronic pain relief to both oxycodone and percoset.

The best people to prescribe for pain relief are specialists in this field. It should not be politicised, even by health care professionals.
