Re: What gives any country the right to exist.........the powers that be. One of the most powerful nations of that time decided that the Jews deserved their own state and made sure it happened.

If so, "right" is a misnomer and you should have phrased it as, "What gives any country the Might to exist........."

Re: Get over it and move on! Israel ain't going anywhere.

Well, this is somehow inconsistent with your legitimizing of Israel based on might... Geopoltical might has proved a rather transient, ever elusive feature throughout History --just ask the Templars and the Catholic knights who ruled over Palestine from 1099 to 1187... Or the French Pieds-Noirs who swayed Algérie Française from 1830 to 1962.

Re: You are talking a piece of land the size of New Jersey that was mostly desert.

Well, if Palestine has been but an uninhabited wilderness all along, how come the crusades failed repeatedly? How come it's been impossible for successive armies made up of Europe's best knights to conquer and keep the Holy Land for centuries? Did they all... just get lost in the desert? Did they just die from insolation and thirst? Was climate their sole enemy?

Re: Get over it and move on! Israel ain't going anywhere.

You're right as far as the land, the soil, and the religions are concerned. Hopefully, there'll always be Arabs, Jews, Muslims and Christians living together in the Middle East, in one form or another. The form itself, however, will be subject to changes.
