I hope this is not true. I have no way of really knowing. I just hope, if it is not true, that we do not make self fulfilling prophecies.

I have reasons to suspect that what you are saying is not true. It is obvious that the people in China are now vastly better off than they were 25 years ago. I don't see signs that the government is effectively suppressing the people.

I don't see a corrupt a visionary like a Joseph Stalin, Saddam Hussein, Kim Il Sung, etc.

I don't see how Chinese leaders get their legitimacy. I see China's leadership coming from an old boys network - but mostly from graduates of their technical schools. I just hope that these guys are smart enough to know that they have to transition their government into legitimacy. I see no other way out for these guys.

I just hope that I am right. If I am wrong, then we are in for a giant nightmare.
