If I recall correctly, I think the average length of time in long term nursing home-type care is around 3 years. I am far from an expert on this, it's truly a nightmare for those who are trying to navigate the maze. I guess that's true of so many things in life, income taxes, buying a home, refinancing a home, life insurance, health insurance. At least now we have the Internet, which is a big help. My siblings chipped in and bought my mom a computer for Christmas. She used to be snarky about the amount of time we all spent on the computer. Only took her a few weeks to learn to use email and research things on google, and she's constantly looking things up, just like the rest of us.
