NT was conceived around 1987 at DEC, so I believe Microsoft could have a mature system around year 2002 that could have the reliability and exceed the technical functionality the UNIX OS. This is assuming Microsoft keeps an optimum number of people working on the system.

I am trying to communicate that this system is already 10 or so years old from an engineering point of view.
