This is the reason some PC OEMs have decided to do DVD software decode, you can add more software, if/when the DVD standard changes. I think this changes it. I would want the option of playing a DVx disc. In hardware, you have an obsolete machine if it won't decode a new item. No wonder OEMs are not rushing to bring the price of DVD down right now, they'll be selling players that won't play some of the available discs.
