I don't know much about tea leafs, planet alignments, or the technical analysis, but have you visited your local Wal Mart store lately....?

I have been doing that for the last month (about 12 visits so far) at different times of the day (including a 11:30 pm visit) and different days of the week. I am simply amazed about the heavy traffic in the local store which is a super store. There were more people in the Wal Mart store during my near midnight trip than the local grocery store has during its Saturday morning crowd.

I was not sure if this was a local situation, so during a recent trip I made to Washington DC (about 350 miles) during a week day, I visited four additional Wal-Mart stores on the way. They were all packed.

I am not sure about other states, but it looks like Wal-Mart has a very large customer base in Virginia. If the situation is the same in other states, Wal Mart is likely to get surprise earning in the coming quarters. I guess the P/E of 21 is somewhat high for this sector, however the growth rate of 13% predicted for Wal Mart in a recent document that I saw is an underestimate.

I intend to keep WMT long term.

Best wishes.
