Adoption studies. I would imagine it is hard to get funding, and it is not absolutely conclusive, but I would certainly assume them to be something to think about.

But note the real point of this thread is that there is ever more evidence that "random" genetic differences between groups are often not "random" at all, but serve a purpose. Thus allowing drugs to work differently in different groups. (Note that there has been a lot of recent work on the differences between Asians and Europeans presumably because it is less politically sensitive (especially in Asia).)
