I think there is starting to be a loss of support for the war within the "war party" itself.

Much of this is to very poor execution, bad planning, naive assumptions, etc.

The ongoing problem is the costs, both in people, and in money.

The war is likely running somewhere between 70 and 100 Billion a year now.
