Because Newsweek was the original source of the false Koran-flushing rumors.

No, Newsweek reported what was told to them by someone else. They didn't invent the story.

For that matter, Durbin didn't invent his story, Laura Ingraham didn't invent her story, and Al Jazeera didn't invent their story.

One thing the ensuing hysteria does is prevent anybody from talking about the original story. Convenient, no?
