The owners of Cocca's Inns and Suites are set to begin construction on the Albany, N.Y., area's first La Quinta Inn & Suites June 23 in Latham. Rocky Cocca and his partners are developing a $5.5 million, 76-room La Quinta hotel on Route 9, adjacent to the Cocca's Inn and Suites at 831 New Loudon Road.

The limited service hotel will offer 19 suites, meeting rooms, an exercise center, a business center and an indoor pool. When the hotel opens in May 2006, rooms will be priced at $85 to $125 a night.

Dallas-based La Quinta Corp. (NYSE: LQI) operates and franchises nearly 600 hotels in 39 states and Canada under the Baymont Inn & Suites, La Quinta Inns, La Quinta Inn & Suites, Woodfield Suites and Budgetel brands.

"The opening of this impressive hotel demonstrates the continuing success of our franchising program and our commitment to establishing and expanding the La Quinta brand in growing markets like the Capital Region," said Alan Tallis, La Quinta's president of franchising, in a press release.
