Foreign Affairs has devoted an entire issue to H5N1, including a rare double by Laurie Garrett, whose work I've followed for a long time, since she wrote The Coming Plague.

I read all the H5N1 articles last night.

Henry Niman is no longer a voice in the wilderness.

The economic effects of the coming pandemic can be calculated only very roughly because they are so immense. I would guess Asia would be the most heavily hit, but of course this is difficult to predict given H5N1's uncertain mutation path.
