It usually is, along with the power that kind of money represents.

Unfortunately, considering the amounts involved, most people would not be safe from their own mothers under similar circumstances. While the average person would find it hard to imagine anyone paying sums of money measured in the trillions of dollars to murder their offspring, the number of incidents where kin folk have met an untimely demise for considerably lesser sums are well documented.

That the Bush Crime Family made a grab for the brass ring is hardly surprising. While I'd like to believe most of us are honorable enough people to resist the temptation to turn traitor with that sort of prize at stake, the human animal has a remarkable capacity to rationalize the most reprehensible acts imaginable when they are able to prosper as a result of those acts. For example, look at how many 9/11 family members turned down the millions of dollars in hush money to demand a real investigation. They rolled over like hungry curs tossed a table scrap.

In the big picture, as bad as 9/11 was, the issue is that this kind of temptation exists, without any checks and balances in place to prevent it happening again. The only way to eliminate insider sponsored terrorism is to take away the prize. As long as the prize is allowed to exist, the world can look forward to a New Pearl Harbor every few generations.
