Factory farming is totally unnecessary is what I am saying. Doesn't that depend on your view of what is necessary and unnecessary? Your opposition to eating meat is clear, so it is understandable that you would not see the positive side of an abundant, inexpensive meat supply that almost anyone can afford. (The organic beef we eat is priced significantly higher than other meats, and is in limited supply.) So it is not surprising that you emphasize the negatives of factory farming (and certainly there are some that you have pointed out) and overlook the positives. But this approach can be used with many other products. I happen to think that jewelry is totally unnecessary, and it is clear that the mining of gold is both highly dangerous to miners (many of them poor minority miners) and very polluting. So i can easily argue that any gold mining for jewelry or other ornamentation (as opposed to gold that is used in essential industrial uses, particularly circuit boards) is totally unnecessary and should be stopped. But I don't think I'll get very far.
