both are public policy and both cost the gov and are give away. that was my point.

some give aways are put through as a program and others are stuck in that big book called the tax code. depends how a congressperson feels they can best get it passed according to help from private interest groups.

I remember when the ceo of about the largest trucking firm in u.s. came into my boss office on a visit . he was saying how great things were. it seems we passed some kind of accelerated depreciation allowance and the corp. ended up paying no corp income tax for the year by purchasing new trucks for the fleet.

It was a give away. I assume the reason was to get the economy rolling again. he would have bought most of the trucks he said anyway.
