If I am not mistaken, Iraq was a moslem country, with huge numbers of vicious, violent, moslem extremists, whose leader hated America, and had the means to strike at America.

And Saddam had little to do with Muslim extremists. Just look at the history of Iraq during his reign -- fundamentalist Muslims were in jail or were finished off by Saddam.
In fact, before we invaded Iraq, there were open hostilities between America and Iraq.
When did Iraq ever attack the US? Shooting at supersonic fighters with 1950's AA guns (which would be taken out the very next minute) does not count.
Would you have preferred to leave that dangerous, violent nutcase, Saddam, free to plan and execute an attack against America?
He may have been a nutcase. But if he *was* dangerous and violent, he was probably dangerous and violent to his own people at worst. None of his neighbors had anything to fear from him post-1991, let alone the US. |
