There was something about Schiavo which really backfired in a serious no-spin way for the rightwing. Something to do with the fact that every family has to unplug a terminal loved once sooner or later and who wants the government coming in and ordering your mother in law to make the choice instead of you? Even white male evangelical rednecks could understand that. Also, every voter is going to die himself someday and none of us would want to be kept alive for 15 years artificially. We'd all want to be put out of our misery.

Mercy killings are merciful, not wrong. Death can be the right thing and the most loving thing. There is nothing wrong with dying when your mind and/or body can't function anymore. It's natural.

Funny how fundamentalists fear death more than any of us. Don't they really believe in heaven after all?
