Rukeyser tribute
Celebrated economic commentator, financial journalist and investment letter editor Louis Rukeyser will be honored at a closing bell ceremony at the New York Stock Exchange next Monday. The tribute recognizes Rukeyser's role as an advocate and champion of the "little guy." Rukeyser has retired from broadcasting and personal appearances but will be represented by his brother, William S. Rukeyser, editorial director of Corporate Board Member magazine, and his daughter Stacy, a screenwriter for the WB network's One Tree Hill. The event will air live on CNBC and Bloomberg Television.
For over three decades, Lou Rukeyser brought Wall Street into living rooms across the country with wit, wisdom, honesty and fairness. He continues to sit at the helm of his top-selling newsletters, Louis Rukeyser's Wall Street and its companion, Louis Rukeyser's Mutual Funds.
The salute is organized by Kim and Charles Githler, producers of the regional Money Show investor conferences, where Rukeyser was a frequent and featured speaker. The pair also produce the Louis Rukeyser Cruise and are longtime friends. "Thanks to his work as a pioneering investment educator, today's individual investor is savvier, smarter and more self-reliant," the Githlers noted. "Choices are more informed, freedom has been expanded. The entire investment climate has changed." -- Craig Tolliver
