What this episode points out is shame is an effective cultural tool. Durbin has been shamed for the disgusting things he said.

Our culture grows stronger and more aligned with our values as a nation when we have the courage to bring shame back into the national conscience.

Shame on fathers who fail to pay child support.
Shame on teenagers who get pregnant out of wedlock.
Shame on husbands who cheat on their husbands.
Shame on wives who cheat on their husbands.
Shame on people who steal from companies, and our government.
Shame on our MSM for focusing so much attention on the negative things a few military members do.
Shame on those who see Abu Ghraib behind every rumor, innuendo and accusation of a military prison.
Shame on Senators who call forth comparisons of our military members with the worst mass murderers in history using scanty evidence.

And shame on the Democrat party and their enablers who will use any issue, at any price, to score political points against President Bush.

Evoking shame has boomerang on them.

That's a good thing.
