Tellabs' Gross Margins May Not Recover From Q1 Drop

Standard & Poor's Equity Research maintained a "hold" rating on Tellabs (nasdaq: TLAB - news - people ), noting that the company's shares have recovered from their recent lows due to "positive signs of new orders from major customers." S&P Equity Research said noted that in early June, Tellabs was named the exclusive supplier of fiber-to-the-curb for a next-generation network from BellSouth (nyse: BLS - news - people ). In 2004, Tellabs was selected by Verizon Communications (nyse: VZ - news - people ) as its major supplier for fiber deployments.
