I'm with you on this flag-burning thing, CR. And to do it is an amendment is not only taking up time that Congress should focus on other issues, but means time and great cost to the states. If they are hell-bent on it, pass a law, and let it go through the courts. The cost of this amendment to the states is one way to frame an argument against its passage by the Senate. Things might be getting bad enough financially for people now that the argument could resonate. In any case, as hard as the right might push the issue, I don't see it see having the power of the gay marriage issue or others they have pushed; not now, anyway. There is fatigue from the lies, the cost of war in lives and money, the SS debacle, the continued downward economic spiral, and more. I don't think except for the fringe that the right can get this thing going. But I've been wrong a lot. :)
