The regard that Kerry has on this thread puzzles me. So much anticipation, so much fantasy.

First, Kerry is stuck. He voted for the war. Just like Buchanan said, he can't suddenly come out against it without resorting to tortured logic about the "conduct of the war" and appearing to waffle, which was what nailed him during the campaign. The best he can do is sound like Hillary, straddling the issue. Second, he lost the election. Third, since he's silent now, suddenly speaking up only makes him look like he was waiting for the moment of greatest political advantage instead of speaking purely on behalf of principle. What's he doing? Waiting for lesser lights to lay the groundwork for a crescendo of voices? Just like the media using bloggers to test the waters before they jump into the stream of antiwar sentiment? Kerry's moment has passed. Don't hold your breath waiting for him to rise to leadership again.
