I realize that there's opportunity for abuse here. And that there may well be some innocents caught up in this. But really, do you think our guys are just "rounding up all the usual suspects" and tossing them into Gitmo? They're capturing those who are shooting at them. At least some of those prisoners were captured while shooting at our troops. Can you focus for a moment on those who are captured while shooting at our troops. Do you really want to let them go just so you can be sure you're not snagging some innocents? Yes, we take that approach in our criminal justice system, but why would the same apply to combat? In combat you go after the munitions factory before it has a chance to be used against you. You don't run surveillance on the suspect and wait until you catch him in the act or after the crime to arrest him.

I'm still trying to figure out why you are treating the criminal justice system as the model. That's an abstract question. Maybe an abstract question and an abstract answer are what's called for here. But since we're not getting anywhere the way we're going...
