Just catching up on the thread and notice your either real or feigned denseness about Count's polish remark. If it has been pointed out already, skip this. Paul had made a remark about, I think it was, "elderly cheerleaders." Are you capable, James, of understanding that this insult might strike someone as below the belt, and in dubious taste, age not being one of those characteristics that are in our control? So if I recall correctly, Count said, in reaction, something like "What next, Polish jokes?" Meaning age-cracks are about on the level of Polish jokes. The lower case p was a typo. It was Paul, not Count who was tasteless; it was Count, not you, who pointed out an incident of poor taste. I'm surprised at you. |
