Has George Bush thrown in the towel so soon? What message does this send? I wouldn't join debka's predictions of doom just yet. The Quartet is a fairly toothless organization, completely toothless in fact. If the US is looking for some sop to give Egypt and SA, and some commitment that might give the US leverage over them when they renege, this sounds like it fits the bill.
