As should be Congress, which abrogated its Constitutional responsibility to declare war. With the exception of Senator Byrd of West Virginia, who in Congress said to Mr. Bush... "Come back with the evidence for war and we will consider it."? No. We have the equivalent of the village idiot as Commander in Chief and Congress gave him a blanket authority to make the decision to wage war against Iraq. Then many in Congress, including John Kerry, claim that the authority to wage war was intended to be used as a "last resort" and Bush erred by launching the war prematurely. Bullcrap. Congress was afraid that Bush would launch a war, overthrow Saddam in days, establish a new government in Iraq in 3 months and have the troops marching down Broadway to a ticker tape parade and "Mission Accomplished" while all those who failed to support the war would be labled wimps (as they were after Gulf War I) and "soft on terror" this time around. Few in Congress had the guts to watch Colin Powell's UN presentation and look at all the evidence objectively and make the right decision - that "the emperor has no clothes". They were concerned not for the good of our nation but for their own political hides. I voted for Kerry in November 04 (anyone but Bush) but not in the primary, and I will not support any Senator or Representative in 2008 who participated in this pass the buck game of "let-Bush-go-to-war-and-we'll-take-credit-if-it-works-but-not-the blame-if-it-doesn't" game. In my view John Kerry and everyone else in Congress who gave Bush the authority to wage this unnecessary war have as much blood on their hands as does Bush - perhaps more because they ducked their responsibility to prevent it - or even seriously think about the consequences. <<<IMO, Mr. Bush will be judged harshly by historians...>>>
