Yesterday INTC/Dell owned the 50M plus mobile market with their Centrino offerings which outdistanced competition in both performance and price.

Today, HP has introduced the the Compaq nx6125 notebook, an AMD offering, which outdistances the INTC/Dell Centrino offerings in both performance and price.

Overnight it seems, HP, with AMD's technology, has obsoleted the INTC/Dell mobile offerings as the "32-bit only" INTC/Dell offerings are just no longer preice/performance competitive.

(AMD's first focus with its Opteron technology was the server space. With server, blade and dual-core products that blow away in performance anything INTC/Dell can offer, AMD has focussed on the mobile space. Judging by HP's initial enthusiasm for nx6125 notebook, it looks like AMD has an immediate winner. I can hardly wait to see what AMD comes up with in the desktop sector, once AMD turns it forcus to that space. (Sure looks like AMD might set the entry bar at 3000+ for their budget desktop entry the way things are going once AMD does focus on the desktop space. Oh, hey, will INTC/Dell's highest performing desktop compete with AMD's lowest performing desktop once AMD concentrates on the desktop sector?)
