Rove's remarks are a disgrace. Much worse than Durbin. Durbin's remarks were only exaggerations and were aimed at reforming something that has gone wrong and is costing us big-time in the global PR wars, thereby hurting our troops. Rove's were 100% false, malicious and dishonest. At least Durbin can point to proven grotesque abuses at Abu Graiab which everyone knows about, scenes which would make Hitler proud and which most Americans want to never happen again. Rove has absolutely no facts backing his statement that after 9-11 "liberals" wanted to go lite on terrorists. Who are these mythical "liberals"? I'm a democrat and I've never even met one who didn't want to take swift revenge after 9-11. Afghanistan war vote was 98-0 in the Senate. Maybe a few pacifist hippies in Eugene Oregon. But those are Nader voters and they are naively against all violence in the world. There is no "liberal press" anymore except journals which announcen themselves as such and have conservative counterparts. The Washington Post gave Bush better coverage than Gore in 2000. The New York Times printed Bush's WMD's claims as if they were fact. The only truly biased major newspaper I know of is the Washington Times which still insists Saddam was in league with Al Qaida. And the only truly biased network is Fox News which calls the war in Iraq "the war on terror" (which it only became once Bush lured in all the terrorists and created thousands more. Plus the rightwing controls the all-important talk radio world, the #1 source of news for most commuting swingvoter suburbanites and others who drive around a lot. In LA it's impossible to even find a liberal radio program during the day. That's why I'm such an expert on Hannity, Limbaugh, O'Reilly and others. I have no choice but to listen to their 90% pro-rightwing spin.
