It's so fun that James Lileks has started his Screed Blog. When he gets going, there is no one better (well, Mark Steyn could give him a fair competition) in destroying someone whose vapidity has strayed into their orbit. I hope he continues to let loose on a regular basis with his Screeds.

His most recent rant focuses on some commentator on Seattle TV who had the misfortune to betray his disdain for conservatives by discussing the recent research that our brains are wired for certain ideologies.

Here's the Seattle guy:

<<<

According to a new study published in the American Political Science Review, being politically conservative is, in part, a matter or genetics.

I've long wondered how an otherwise seemingly rational person could adhere so strictly to stilted ideologies; how they could be so consistently willing to smother a sense of social well-being.
>>>

And here's a taste of how Mr. Lileks uses ridicule to eviscerate him. Jonathan Swift must be smiling approvingly somewhere.

<<<

Yes, I’ve long wondered how reasonable people could disagree with me. It just doesn’t seem possible.

I’ve entertained the possibility that they’ve examined the evidence, considered the things I regard as crucial to extending freedom and prosperity to as many as possible on this benighted globe, but then GIANT BEES SWARMED THROUGH THE WINDOW and they were so busy fighting them off they forgot everything they’d been thinking right up to Zero Hour Bee. Thus angered, thus confused, they became glowering lust-maddened Othellos pushing the pillow over Desdemona’s face, depriving her of life and social well-being.

I mean, there’s no other rational reason why people might have opinions that conflict with my own. They’re either stupid or evil.

>>>

And isn't that what so many liberals believe about conservatives? We're either stupid or evil or some mix thereof. That's why John Hawkins and I had to give the left a little primer on what conservatives are and are not like.
