The future is here; how soon will this happen to us?

Perhaps sooner rather than later.

yesterday was 90+ and, with the humidity,
was stifling up here in the Frozen North.
forecast is for similar most of this week.
at this rate, july and august could be scorchers.

haven't been checking each day, but there have
been smog alerts on in many parts of Ontario
very frequently over the past few weeks.
Not unusual for Toronto, but saw an interview
with a guy up on Georgian Bay who said he'd
never seen smog like they got a week or two ago.
apparently, according to the news broadcast,
the weather systems are dragging a lot of smog
in from the south.
kind of reminds me of back about 10 years ago,
being in Vermont and stopping at this look-off
on the way to New Hampshire, and seeing this weird
smog cloud creeping up through a valley in
the mountains.
That night, when we turned on the news at our hotel room
in New Hampshire, the Burlington, Vt. station was talking
about this smog cloud that had invaded northwards from NYC
or the area.

Always kind of striking when you go from fairly clean air
to smog -- or can see the two contrasted such as in the
case of seeing the smog cloud arriving between two mountains.
Makes you want to run when you see it coming.
I feel that way when I drive towards the city and see
the smog sitting like a big pancake over it....
I can see it from a hill that is the last high point
before i drive down into the city.

Anyhow, yeah.. "the future is here".
Heat, smog, high demand for water, power to run air conditioners, etc...
Could be a long, hot, smoggy summer in many parts of the land...
