Okay, who has some excellent advice for me?

I'm considering buying a cool old travel trailer in excellent condition and using it a rumpus room kind of environment and for overflow guests when we are out of room. And then actually taking it traveling when the mood hits our family.

I know absolutely nothing about this subject, however. How would you set up such a trailer near your house? What kind of plumbing/water attachments go in and out, and can you hook these up to your home systems?

What about electricity? Where does that get hooked up?

Most importantly, how far from you house could the trailer sit and still be hooked up to all this stuff?

Are travel trailers heated? If so, how? Can you sleep in one in cold weather? Not snow, maybe down to the high twenties at night.

Does anyone recommend any particular brands as being reliable and neat besides Airstream? I'm particularly concerned with general quality of workmanship, and of course watertightness.

I am hoping there are some experts on this subject right here at Feelies!
