Monday's rant from the holler (or somewhere near there) ~

okay, this has little to do with politics. Or the economy. Or any of that stuff. But it has to do with decency and the good ol' American way. Or something like that.

I have been arguing on the phone off and on all morning with a guy who runs a hotel about 2 1/2 hours north of me. My friend in a wheelchair made her first big adventure in many a year this past weekend. It was her first solo trip since her accident. This was a BIG deal. Scary and nerve-wracking to drive her van such a distance. She needed a hotel because her friend's trailor could not accomodate her. So the guy tells me on the phone that the room we are paying for is suitable for a chair. Uhm, no. When she gets there, thankfully with friends in tow, she finds out she can't get in the front door of the hotel to check in because there are stairs. Then she finds out that the wheelchair room is rented but she can "get in" the room they have for her. This was not the plan, nor what I was told we were paying for. And he was yelling at me because I wasn't there in person. On Friday night, after having told him when I called that I would not be there, I was simply paying for the room, he pitched a fit that I had to be there. So I called and said, "fine, I'm 2 1/2 hours away. It's 11, I'll be there about 1:30 am." oh no no no, he says, that's not necessary. Well, which is it? Now today he wants money for something else, long story. But he lied to me and just won't admit it.

lol. Too long and complicated. But what is it with a business that you can't get a straight answer? Is the room set up for a chair or not?
