Well, Geode, I give you credit for taking the time to type out some good rants today. Don't agree with any of them, but at least you showed some substance.<gg>

You may agree with the Sunni AQ mentality that the Christians and Jews and Shiites don't have a place in their society. I am glad that the Shiite balance of power has been brought back into place in Iran, Iraq, Lebanon. It will give more hope to oppressed Shiite minorities in the rest of the Islamic world like Saudi Arabia and Israel.

Bush is not going to topple the Saudi government where you have a stable nation of 12 million Sunnis. The transition of Afghanistan went off with very little struggle because 75 % of the population is Sunni too. (Same for Pakistan, BTW) The new government did little to change the way of life for the Sunni majority. In Iraq, there is alot of conflict because it involved a transition from a Sunni to a Shiite government. AQ views Shiites to be expendible Muslims. Salafi Jihadi Sunnis get very touchy when Shiites start coming to power.

The key to the Middle East is maintaining stability in every country on a case by case analysis. Your worst enemy in Iraq might be your Sunni allies back in Saudi Arabia. I don't have any question in my mind at this point why we had to restore the balance of power in Iraq. It was meant to contain the aggression against the Shiites. I think the amazing tolerance of the Shiites in Iraq reflect just how sensitive the balance of power with their Sunni counterparts is going to be,
