I believe that the Sr Graham is a much different person from his son. As I understand it, Graham is a lifelong democratic who wants to get away from the politics of religion whereas his son doesn't.

I also remember an interview with him a few years back where he lamented that all his preachings hadn't meant anything. He was pretty depressed about the state of affairs in the world and his inability to do anything about them.
