The percentage of people worth a million dollars or more has been rising recently. As their rich parents die off the kids become rich for a moment. (Then they spend it all. It is much easier to spend money someone else earned.) In a few years the percentage will fall back into line. Another possibility is that a millionaire just doesn't mean what it used to.
