I can't take credit for coining Guck. I think it was Rat but the posts were flying at that point. I did get a wonderful compliment from James for taking its use to a high level. I am proud. My Granny would call it "cussin' a blue streak".

I would enjoy stories about defusing words. There is a lot of power in that. Look at how "traitor" and "Democrat" are used now. To take steps to diffuse that is important, I think. As to using guck or mother gucker every few words... I would just shake my head while talking with one of the boys and tell them it took much too much energy to decipher what they just said by piecing together the words between the cuss words or the "you knows" or the "like"s. So end of conversation until you can cut them out. Not that conversation was usually the motive. There seems to be little more a teen likes than to find someone who will just nod their head and say "yup" now and then while they talk a blue streak. :)
