But of course AMD's overall weaker position is only way this continued like this. The mfrs needed access to the full range of chips and other associated products and could not afford to snub Intel given AMD's capacity limitations, historical delays and technical glitches, etc. That is where the case is weak. AMD's indidual products might be better (hell, are better). BUT they are more limited in product range and units per product. That is a fact unfortunately.
