Knowing and acting on what IS is difficult. It's a fight against our preceptual biases and limited information all the time.

Well as the good General says - "What IS" - and I hear TEOTWAWKI being sputtered a little more often than usual.

Eternally optimistic Energyplay - that is what makes you a real champion - it is so hard to watch one of the nicest sweetest most charming gents like Jay sing dont worry be happy and then start preaching TEOTWAWKI. Hehe

I will disagree on the make a difference

Sure, they could have saved thier homes in sunnyvale, some old guys a few hundred years back ensured thier gun rights to do so - but Energy - they will come take your house - you won't shoot anyone, they will tax you into poverty - you won't shoot anyone - they will sell you mad cow infested food and you won't shoot anyone - so yes while it is POSSIBLE to make a difference - I don't see you lining up sights on long range rifles like pearly button to even be in practice to do so.

/ change the world business, however. It is possible, but takes lots of work and luck.

nah, doesn't take either of those - if your buddies in sunnyvale had put a few 25 cent bullets in the right opressors heads like thier founders did - things would have definitely taken a different course. But we are civilized, we can't reduce ourselves to thier level and using brutes with guns to get dirty work done right?

Regarding DFA - I wonder how many here in the past 5 to 10 years have beat thier funds? I found
tradermike.net

swingtradingonline.com Now I have not had time to pour over either site - I will in the next few days - but I think one of them is the originator of this thread - maybe I am wrong - but tradermike and the General used to have very long fundamental discussions on this thread - and tradermike - where is he today? Not on SI. Now I didn't get to see that guru dissappear because I was watching the squish squish of the other gurus in bre-x and rmil and athony and tokyo joe and kimberly folks - but so many great ones have come and gone from SI. Where is trader mikes long term returns since 1999? Did he significantly outperform the DFA funds and fama and french?
