Amy, info on the traffic system in the RL from Acura's website. It does say that data goes to the NAV display and shows traffic flow...
Best regards, John Once you experience North America's first real-time traffic feature, you'll wonder how you ever lived without it. Utilizing the AcuraLink™ satellite communication system and XM® NavTraffic™ service from XM's satellites, the network gathers the latest traffic, navigation and car-related information and beams it to the RL in 22 metropolitan areas. This includes 24-hour traffic flow, where available, as well as updates on accidents, construction, weather issues and anything else that might impact your journey. Information appears on the guidance map on the large, 8-inch navigation system display and is continuously refreshed, enabling drivers to take the least congested routes to their destinations. Standard on the 2005 RL, real-time traffic information offers convenient shortcuts for your big-city travels. The first year of this real-time traffic service is included in the vehicle purchase. Subsequent service requires a fee.
ACURALINK™ Uses the XM® Satellite Radio communications interface to receive traffic information, which is then displayed on the navigation system screen and managed using the console-mounted interface dial. Available in the 48 contiguous United States. Real-Time Traffic available in select metropolitan areas. XM® NAVTRAFFIC™ Real-time traffic data is delivered to the RL's navigation system by XM radio satellites and employs a color-coding scheme to indicate traffic-flow speeds on major metropolitan freeways. 8" COLOR SCREEN The vivid 8" color screen can display a moving map that appears three-dimensional, as if seen at an angle from the air. You can zoom in and out, and view two fields in split-screen. The system will display direction arrows, detailed street names, turning instructions and driving distances. |
